Track Record

After 10 years working in the voluntary sector in the North East of Scotland, REAP has an extensive network of contacts and experience of working with groups and agencies in a wide range of projects.    We have experience of working with community groups and voluntary organisations in taking forward projects and offering training and capacity building.  We work to promote sustainable development through supporting social enterprise and environmental activities.  REAP can also offer a comprehensive consultancy service to carry out research which is in line with our overall aims.  A list of some of the work we have been involved in is included below.  A sample of the reports giving details of some of our work is also included in the downloads page.

 

 

 

 

Social Enterprise Development

Our work to develop the social enterprise sector has included:

·  Completing a mapping exercise into the social enterprise sector within Moray which has led to the formation of the Moray Social Enterprise Network to progress the outcomes. 

·  Delivering two ILM accredited training programmes with the Social Enterprise Academy.  These were in the form of eight  two day modules on topics such as Emotional intelligence, Developing Your Product and Co- Coaching.  

·  Organising events for Moray Social Enterprise Network (MSEN).  

·  We are members of the Moray Social Economy Partnership and are members of the Moray Council Service Level Agreement Review Group.  

 

 

 

 

Consultancy Work

REAP has carried out various consultancy work and research including:

·  Aberdeenshire Council – delivered five day participatory appraisal training course for staff in the Formartine Area.

·  Cairngorms National Park Authority – delivered youth consultation sessions on the draft park plan strategy.

·  CVS Training Initiative – carried out an external evaluation of this project on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.

·  NHS Grampian – delivered community consultation and engagement strand of the highly successful Moray Food and Health Project.

·  Moray Community Planning Partnership – facilitated the Moray Environmental Forum and wrote the Environmental strategy for the Community Planning Partnership.

·  Moray Council – carried our research into the economic and social impacts of local footpath networks.

 

 

 

 

Practical Environmental Activities

·  Organised 'Live it up in Glenlivet' a highly successful series of week long residential environmental volunteering projects assisting the Glenliver Ranger Service.

·  Assisted the 'Wood Tour'  a project with the Forestry Rangers in bringing wood skills to schools and community groups.

·  Assisted the Cottage Woods Community Woodland Association in carrying out practical improvements to a community woodland.

·  Sourcing training for volunteers to assist in carrying out home energy audit for homes around Keith .

·  Piloting the use of thermal camera to assist community groups cut the energy used in village halls.

 

 

 

 

Capacity Building / Social Accounting

·  Elgin area Credit Union – delivered training and support to this financial co-operative which is now part of the fast growing North East Credit Union.

·  Set up the Moray against Poverty Network (MAP) and facilitated the production of their widely acclaimed Voices from the Edge report.  MAP are now an established organisation in their own right.

·  Strategic Planning/ governance support to a wide range of organisations including Volunteer Centre Moray, Loft Youth Project, Community First Moray, Lhanbryde Challenge, Grampian Opportunities and Down to Earth Self Build Housing Association.

·  Delivering Social Accounting training through clusters throughout the North East of Scotland.

 

 

 

 

Conferences

REAP has experience in organising conferences and is frequently asked to deliver workshops.  This has included:

·  Organised 'On the Road to Johannesburg' a conference for the Moray Sustainability Forum in the run up to the Earth Summit.

 ·  Organised annual conferences for MAP on various issues surrounding poverty.

·  Migrant Worker Symposium, Peterhead – workshop facilitation.

·  Organised 'Hard to Treat Homes' seminar with input from Historic Scotland and the Energy Saving Trust.

·  Presentation to EQUAL Social economy seminar.

 

 

 

Environmental Education

·  Carbon footprinting educational workshops for primary schools and community groups.

·  Delivered workshops on renewable energy with pupils in two secondary schools in Moray on behalf of AMEC.

·  Green Spaces – delivered schools based environmental improvements programme on behalf of Moray council. 

·  Delivered various seminars on environmental issues including environmental justice, sustainability, climate change etc.
