Solar PV Panels perform well – even in Winter!
REAP’s solar panel advisor Wilf Schenk visited Ms. Todd on the afternoon of the 7th of December to find out how her solar panels are performing. The panels are made by dutch company UBBINK, the photo voltaic cells mono-chrystalline, i.e. designed to perform well in northern climes where clouded skies are frequent. Wilf was keen to hear how Ms. Todd’s panels are performing in the darker time of the year. He found that Ms. Todd’s of Forres 3.5 kwp PV array is delivering electricity even in wintry conditions! Mrs Todd said: “My panels were installed end of September and have since then produced 350 kw hours of electricity. Since then I had lots of days when 10kw/h or more of electricity were produced. Even last week, when there was snowfall, there were days when the panels produced between 0.5 and 4 kw.”
