Raised beds can be a good way to start growing your own in a manageable space. A metre by metre square bed will produce at least 3kg of food a year, saving food miles and cutting your carbon footprint. Growing your own is tasty, healthy and fund so why not give it a try. Raised beds are a good method of starting off a new growing area, maybe on a bit of lawn or rough ground. They are easy to mow round and because you don’t walk on them, the soil doesn’t get compacted.
Why not take a look at our brief video and see how it’s done? You can also download a raised bed leaflet here. Please make sure you work safely with tools when building your bed. Plan ahead and get help from someone experienced if you need it.
