Adobe Acrobat (PDF)

To view these documents you need to use a PDF file viewer such as Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Exchange from Adobe Systems Incorporated.  You should be aware that documents held in this format are typically much larger than simple text files.  If you are connected via a slow modem over a telephone line, you should consider the likely download time before attempting to retrieve such documents.  In order to help you decide, we will give the size of the PDF file alongside its description.

Acrobat Reader is now available at no charge from Adobe Systems' web site.

Microsoft Word (DOC)

Microsoft Word is a word processor/ document authoring program. Other word processors may be able to open MS Word files, although they may show formatting or page layout slightly differently.

If you do not have Microsoft Word, then a free viewer program is available from the Microsoft web site 

Microsoft Excel (XLS)

We present some spreadsheat information (e.g. statistics) in Excel 97 format. You may be able to open Excel files in other spreadsheet programs, although some formatting may differ.

Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT)

PowerPoint is a "slideshow" presentation program.
