The Warm Home Discount began in 2011 and is an annual credit that the major energy suppliers place on the electricity account of eligible customers. The value of the credit for the year 2017/18 has been set at £140 inclusive of VAT, which means, if you qualify, you will essentially get £133-worth of free electricity.
Successful applicants are considered to be in one of two groups – either the ‘Core Group’ or the ‘Broader Group’. Places in the Broader Group are limited and are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
This page on the UK Government website will tell you about eligibility and it also has links to the appropriate pages of all the suppliers involved in the scheme.
